Why Now?
The Session and people of Christ Church have considered an expansion of phase one, our current facility, for a few years. At this point we face the need for immediate space in our nurseries and foyer areas. We face several compromising situtations when we arrange for two services. With financial stability and membership growth over the past year, we believe that this is the significant season God has for us.

Will the new sanctuary have pews or chairs?
We have not determined whether we will have chairs or pews.
[top]
Will the new sanctuary change our style of worship and/or preaching?
No. The new sanctuary will only enhance our current worship style by allowing for better acoustics, a larger chancel area for enhanced instrumentation, and choral performance.
[top]
Will the additions add more storage?
Yes. The basement of the sanctuary will remain unfinished. Since we will have life-saving features, such as exits and water sprinklers, we will be able to use it for storage.

What is a Master Site Plan?
The Master Site Plan is a plan to maximize the development of our lot. The plan allows us to plan phases that will contribute to the overall vision of our facilities for the years to come.

How did the church, builder, and architect develop a Master Site Plan?
The Building Leadership Team invited all ministry teams, both existing and those which did not but use the building, to answer surveys provided by the architect and builder. After completing the surveys each team was invited to participate in
an interview with both the builder and architect. Our Master Site Plan addresses 80 percent of the desires of the ministry teams, which is wonderful considering our lot limitations.

What do we anticipate adding in Phase Two?
Depending upon congregational response, we anticipate adding the following:
- A 500+ seat sanctuary with an unfinished basement extending North.
- An extended foyer with a finished basement extending North connecting our current building with the new sanctuary and basement.
- Renovations to our current facility to better fit the additional space and provide increased square footage for those ministries in need.
How much will Phase Two cost?
The above plans will cost an anticipated $4 million. Depending upon the funds raised, we do have some discretion with how much renovation we will execute on our current facility.
Will the architectural design of our current facility remain the same?
The new edition’s architectural design will remain generally the same.
How will the expansion address current building constraints in relation to the nursery?
We have set the nursery constraints as a priority in expanding. Our hope is to “get ahead of the curve” with more space than what is currently needed. We anticipate adding a check-in desk, sleep rooms, play rooms, and private rooms for nursing mothers.
How will the expansion address current building constraints in relation to the foyer?
By freeing up the current sanctuary and adding additional foyer space to the north, we will be able to provide hospitable gathering spaces to serve a sanctuary size of 500+.
Will the new addition add more children and youth ministry space?
Yes. By finishing the basement under the new foyer, we will be able to better address children’s Sunday School and youth ministry spaces.
Will we be adding more parking?
Yes. We will add additional parking space and
a third entrance into the lot off Shelbourne.
Will there be parking on the lot purchased across Shelbourne along Constitution Trail?
This phase does not necessitate that we add parking onto that property. But we did consider the lot in the Master Site Plan to add 28 additional overflow parking spaces in the future.
Finance Questions
What was the total amount pledged from the Kairos Project?
$975,000
Have the pledges been impacted by the economic recession?
No. At this point no one has communicated their need to resend their pledge. Rather, we have received an additional $15,000 that had not been previously pledged.
What are the terms of the Heartland Bank loan proposal?
The loan will be a commercial loan, amortized over 20 years at 6.5% interest for the first five years, then adjusting annually thereafter.
Why is the rate higher than my personal mortgage interest rate?
Commercial loans are based upon a different set of rates. We received two proposals at 6.5% and one that resended their proposal suggesting that they would not be able to compete at the low rate.
What will be the level of indebtedness after the Kairos pledges are received?
We anticipate a minimal increase in debt, after the pledges are received. We cannot offer an accurate number at this point since we do not know the exact amount of Kairos pledges to be received over the next two years and the final price of the building project.
Why build now and pay interest?
Could we wait until 2012 and build with cash on hand? The increase in building costs, about 10 to 15% per year, will outpace the 6.5% interest rate.
What should I do if my ability to honor my pledge changes?
Please contact Tammy Pence should anything change.

Building Questions
How much foyer space will we gain with the West Addition?
1,000 Square Feet.
Will we install the reception desk?
No.
Will the new addition have the same interior as our current interior?
Yes.
What other renovations to the first floor will this project provide?
We will be painting most of the first floor as well as installing new carpet in the foyer and sanctuary. We will widen the sanctuary entrance to alleviate traffic in and out of the sanctuary. The Prayer room and an expanded Choir room will also be added.
Will the nursery be sufficient for future growth in attendance?
Yes. We will triple the square footage of the nursery.
Will we also address space needs for Children Sunday School?
Yes. We will increase the square footage of two rooms so as to provide for larger classes.
Where will Adult Foundation Classes meet?
Adult foundation classes will meet in the two rooms at the bottom of the stairs.
Where will the youth meet?
They will use the current Multipurpose Room and Nursery.
Will we enhance the Multipurpose Room/Youth Room?
Yes. We will install new audio and an a projection system.
Will there be renovations to the basement?
There will be little renovations. We have chosen to wait until we build the North Basement Addition.
In January the proposal included a North Basement Addition. Why is it not in the current proposal?
The current proposal's intent is to build in proportion to the Kairos pledges, General Budget giving and the economic climate.
Will we build the addition in the future?
Yes. The North Basement Addition can be added at any time and is part of the Master Plan.
